🔐 How to Secure Your WiFi

Hackers often target home WiFi networks. Follow these simple steps to protect yours and keep your data safe.

1️⃣ Change Your WiFi Password

The first password on your WiFi is like the “factory lock” on a front door—everyone knows it. Change it to your own secret one with at least 12 characters (mix of letters, numbers, and symbols). Don’t use your name, birthday, or address—it’s too easy to guess.

2️⃣ Use the Strongest Lock (WPA3)

WiFi locks are called “encryption.” The newest and strongest lock is WPA3. If your router doesn’t support it, use WPA2. Avoid older locks—they’re like rusty keys that can be copied easily.

3️⃣ Turn Off WPS (the Easy-Connect Button)

Many routers have a “quick connect” button called WPS. It’s like leaving a spare key under the doormat—convenient, but dangerous. Turn it off in your router settings.

4️⃣ Kick Out Strangers

Check the list of devices connected to your WiFi once in a while. If you see a device you don’t recognize, it’s like finding a stranger in your living room. Block it and change your password immediately.

5️⃣ Keep Your Router Up to Date

Routers get updates just like phones. These updates fix security holes. Log into your router’s dashboard every few months and check for “firmware updates.” It’s like patching cracks in your home’s walls.
